Black Banded Agate Clip-on Drop Earrings

As far back as 3000 BC, Agate was one of the first known gemstones worn as talismans. A strong example of the enthusiasm for agate is the collection of Mithridates, king of Pontus, in what is now Turkey, who had a collection of 2000 to 4000 agate bowls. The metal components in these 1 and 7/16 inches (37mm) long non-pierced earrings is plated with a muted gold often referred to as Museum. Hanging from a simple ball and loop clip, the black Banded Agate drop has a multi-layer beaded rondelle on top of a simple golden ring which is duplicated at the end of the 3/4 inch (19mm) long oval Agate bead. Since these gemstones are works of art by Mother Nature, like all banded agates, no two beads will have the same pattern earring.
