Egyptian Lotus Petal Clip-on Drop Earrings

Hanging from a pierced-look-a-like simple clip, the 7/8 inch (23mm) long, 3/4 inch (19mm) wide drop represents a lotus petal. They are fashioned in bright matte finished gold-plate with a Lapis bead and enamel inserts of bright and light blues - powerful colors of Dynastic Egypt. Gold was believed to reflect the life-giving rays of the sun; Blue represented heaven, Lapis was considered a sacred stone with powers of celestial origin and the Blue Lotus which opened in the morning and closed at dusk, signifying regeneration and rebirth, was the emblem of the god Nefertum.
