Humming Bird & Onyx Clip-on Drop Earrings

Hanging from a MuseuM ReproductionS secure gold-plated screwback clip, this 2 and 3/8 inches (61mm) long non-pierced earring is based on a Pre-Columbian original in New York's National Museum of the American Indian. The stylized birds in that earring was cast of gold using the lost wax process in the Cauca Valley, Columbia. Ours feature a 12mm ( a bit less than 1/2 inch) tube of genuine Onyx and 2 stylized museum gold (matte finished) Hummingbirds hanging from a ring. Hung independently, their motion suggests the 'movement in place' of live Hummingbirds.
Notes:
The lost wax casting method involves making a wax model, investing it in a mold, and then melting the wax out of the mold to form a cavity into which a glass replica can be cast.

The term usually includes the history of American indigenous cultures until they were conquered or significantly influenced by Europeans.
