Saturated Color Clip-on Drop Earrings

Artists Marvin and Michelle Shafer fashion unique creations and actually fabricate, texture and polish the components prior to the color process that gives them the saturated color that is the hallmark of Q3Art products. In shades of bright blue this 2 and 5/16 inches (59mm) long non-pierced earrings - called Eden by the designers - begins with a flat 9/16 inch (14mm) disc that covers a simple clip. An open disc with a diameter of 1 and 1/8 inches (29mm) and a curvy drop with a silver-plated metal ring at the bottom form the dangle.

All the colored pieces are anodized, an electroletic process in which the surface of the aluminum - which has been polished so there are no sharp edges - becomes a tough porous sponge allowing dye to soak into the surface of the metal. Tiny 'dents' or areas with less color - visible on close inspection but unnoticeable when worn - are the points where the anodizing electrodes are attached.
