Tairona Eagle Non-pierced Drop Earrings

The stylized eagle in these earrings by MuseuM ReproductionS is adapted from a cast-gold original that dates to AD 800-1200. From the Pre-Columbian jewelry collection at The Smithsonian, it represents the style of gold work of the Tairona people of Columbia where gold symbolized power and spiritual wealth but was never used as money. Suspended from a 3mm ball of Sodalite, a blue semi-precious gemstone named after its sodium content, the 13/16 inch (20mm) long eagle has a wing span that is also 13/16 inch. Overall length is 1and 5/8 inches (41mm).
